Tasting notes

Pale lemon in colour. The nose shows peach, pineapple, light citrus and green apple. The palate is energetic, with lively acidity, ripe and tropical fruit alongside citrus, and a long, expansive finish.

About this wine

Cabanes is the white Bordeaux of Château Penin, a family estate in Génissac on the right bank of the Dordogne, run by the Carteyron family for several generations. It is a modern, vibrant expression of Bordeaux Blanc.

The blend combines 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sauvignon Gris and 30% Sémillon. After a slow, cool fermentation of about twenty days, each variety and plot is aged separately in concrete eggs, concrete and stainless steel tanks or oak barrels, then the wine rests on its fine lees for at least six months before bottling.

This patient, plot-by-plot approach gives a white of energy and texture, with fruit and freshness in perfect balance.
