About this wine

Château Penin lies in Génissac, across the Dordogne from Saint-Émilion, and its vineyards are certified High Environmental Value (HVE). The cuvée 56 pays tribute to the varieties grown in the village before the devastating frost of 1956, when Malbec was still widely planted in Bordeaux.

This is a Bordeaux reading of Malbec from old, low-yielding vines on clay over fossil-rich limestone. Gentle extraction by infusion and 12 months in concrete vats preserve the purity of the fruit, giving a fresh, straight and elegant red.
