Tasting notes

Deep, saturated red. The nose is dominated by black fruit, blackberry and plum, with hints of vanilla. The palate is full and rich, with soft tannins, juicy fruit and a smooth, elegant finish.

About this wine

Tradition is the classic red of Château Penin, a family estate in Génissac on the right bank of the Dordogne, run by the Carteyron family for several generations. It carries the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation and represents the house style at its most faithful.

The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the two great varieties of Bordeaux's right bank. The wine is aged for twelve months in large oak casks, which round out the tannins and add a gentle spicy note without masking the fruit.

The result is a full, juicy and elegant Bordeaux with dark fruit and a smooth finish, able to age gracefully for up to a decade.
