Tasting notes

Deep garnet. Rich and concentrated, with dark fruit and spice, the latter lifted by the Cabernet Franc. The palate is powerful and dense, with silky, refined tannins and a long finish; the magnum format keeps it evolving slowly for years to come.

About this wine

Château Giscours is a Third Growth of the 1855 classification in the Margaux appellation, with vineyards on deep gravel soils. Owned by the Albada Jelgersma family, the estate is known for a powerful, dense style with silky, refined tannins and great ageing potential.

The 2009 blends 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, aged 12 to 15 months in French oak barrels, half of them new. Rich and concentrated, it comes here in magnum, a format in which the wine ages more slowly: ideal for a festive table.
