Tasting notes

Deep garnet. The nose is rich and layered, with blackcurrant, black cherry, violet, cedar, graphite and sweet spice. The palate is full-bodied yet polished, with dense, velvety tannins, vibrant acidity and a very long finish of dark fruit, cocoa and tobacco.

About this wine

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a Second Growth of Pauillac on the border with Saint-Julien. Its vineyards, some facing Château Latour, combine gravel over clay, and a notable share of Merlot gives the wine its famous silkiness and perfume.

2010 is one of the great Bordeaux vintages of the century: warm, dry and even, producing wines of concentration and longevity. The Comtesse 2010 blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged in French oak, and pairs ripe dark fruit with remarkable freshness and a dense, velvety tannic frame.
