Tasting notes

Bright ruby red. The nose is dominated by red currant, raspberry, sour cherry and wild strawberry, with a floral note and a hint of clove in the background. The palate is lively and fresh, with pleasant, unobtrusive tannins and crisp acidity, closing on a long, delicate finish of red fruit.

About this wine

Castiglioni comes from Tenuta di Castiglioni near Montespertoli, one of the oldest estates of the Frescobaldi family, who have been making wine in Tuscany for more than seven centuries. The vineyards sit on clay and limestone slopes in the heart of the Chianti zone.

The wine is a blend of Sangiovese with a small share of Merlot. It is vinified in stainless steel and rests there for six months before a short period in bottle, so that the clean, bright fruit of Sangiovese is preserved without any oak influence.

This is the fresh, easy-drinking face of Chianti: lively red berries, a floral touch and gentle tannins that make it a natural partner for everyday Tuscan food.
