Tasting notes

Bright ruby. A precise nose of red cherry, cranberry, rose and crushed stone, with a hint of spice. The palate is linear and tightly knit, with fine tannins, vibrant acidity and a cool, stony core. The finish is long, saline and mineral.

About this wine

The Marquis d'Angerville estate has been a reference for Volnay for over a century and has farmed biodynamically since the early 2000s, with low yields and minimal intervention in the cellar.

Taillepieds climbs the steepest part of the Volnay slope, where the topsoil is shallow and the limestone close to the surface. The name refers to the stony ground that once cut the feet of those who worked it. The wine is destemmed, fermented with wild yeasts and aged in barrel for around eighteen months.

It is the most mineral and tightly wound of the domaine's Premiers Crus.
