Tasting notes

Deep ruby with purple glints. Blackberry, morello cherry and plum lead the nose, lifted by violet and a sprinkle of black pepper. The palate is supple and fruit-forward, with soft tannins, moderate alcohol and a fresh, almost crunchy acidity that keeps it light on its feet. The finish is clean and lightly spiced.

About this wine

Produttori di Manduria is a growers' cooperative founded in 1932 on the Salento peninsula, bringing together hundreds of families who farm old Primitivo bush vines on the red, iron-rich soils around Manduria. Electric Bee is its deliberately unconventional reading of the variety.

Where Primitivo is often made thick and sweet, this bottling is picked earlier and fermented in stainless steel with no oak, keeping alcohol moderate and the fruit bright. The result is a juicy, approachable red that keeps the warmth of Puglia but trades weight for drinkability, and takes a light chill well.
