Tasting notes

Deep garnet colour. A mature, layered nose of dried cherry, blackcurrant, cedar, tobacco and leather with hints of cocoa and dried herbs. Full-bodied, with velvety, fully integrated tannins and a long, elegant finish shaped by four years of oak and bottle ageing.

About this wine

Pitos Reserve 2013 is the top red of Dragomir Winery Estate, the Plovdiv-based producer founded by Natalia Gadzheva and Konstantin Stoev, two of Bulgaria's most respected winemakers. It is a blend of Rubin, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot – Rubin being the Bulgarian crossing of Nebbiolo and Syrah.

The wine aged 24 months in French oak barrels followed by another 24 months in bottle before release. With more than a decade of age, it is a mature, complex red for special occasions.

Serve at 16–18 °C, decanted, with roast red meat, game or aged cheeses.
