Tasting notes

Deep, dense ruby colour. A complex nose of blackberry, black plum and dried fig with Mediterranean herbs, black pepper, leather and sweet oak. Full-bodied and layered, with ripe, velvety tannins from two years in French oak and a long, warm, spicy finish.

About this wine

The Copper Pot is the flagship red of Four Friends, a boutique winery in the Melnik region of south-west Bulgaria. It is an ambitious blend of eight red grape varieties: Mourvèdre 38%, Merlot 18%, Syrah 16%, Grenache 10% and four more varieties each below 7%.

The wines aged for two years in selected French oak barrels, which gives the blend depth, polish and a long life ahead. It is a rich, Mediterranean-style red with Bulgarian sun in every sip.

Serve at 16–18 °C, ideally decanted, with roast red meat, game or aged cheeses.
