Tasting notes

Deep, intense ruby colour. The nose shows blackberry, black plum and dried Mediterranean herbs with black pepper and a touch of violet. Medium to full-bodied, with firm, grippy tannins typical of Nero di Troia, fresh acidity and a long, savoury finish.

Renegade is an urban winery in London: the grapes are brought from Europe and vinified in the city, a relatively new practice that brings winemaking into the heart of the metropolis. Each wine is named after a person connected to the winery.

Courney 2019 is made from Nero di Troia, a rare grape from Puglia in southern Italy, with intense colour and firm tannins: blackberry, plum, dried herbs and black pepper. It is a characterful, savoury red from an unexpected address.
