Tasting notes

Deep ruby-garnet. Black cherry in syrup, dried fig, cocoa and sweet spice, with a balsamic lift. The palate is full and warm, with ripe tannins, concentrated dark fruit and a firm acid backbone. The finish is long, rich and faintly bitter.

About this wine

The TB label marks Tommaso Bussola's selection wines, drawn from the oldest vines on the terraced slopes above Negrar and made in very small quantities.

This Valpolicella Superiore uses a proportion of partly dried grapes and a long maceration, followed by ageing in small French oak. The result sits somewhere between a classic Valpolicella and an Amarone, with far more weight and depth than the appellation usually delivers.

It is a Valpolicella built like a serious red, and it repays a few years in bottle.
