Tasting notes

Intense ruby red, turning garnet with age. The nose offers plum, small red fruit, spice and a hint of truffle. The palate is velvety and refined, with soft tannins, good depth and a long, savoury finish.

About this wine

Zanna is one of the historic reds of Illuminati, the Controguerra winery founded in 1890 as Fattoria Nicò and run today by Stefano Illuminati with his brother Lorenzo. It is a Montepulciano from the Colline Teramane, the most prestigious area for the grape in Abruzzo.

Intense ruby red turning to garnet with age, it shows spice, plum, small red fruit and a hint of truffle. Its tannins are soft and the texture velvety and refined.

An elegant, mature red for special dinners and slow-cooked dishes.
