Tasting notes

Bright golden yellow. The nose shows ripe yellow fruit, citrus peel and hazelnut, with subtle toasty oak and a mineral edge. The palate is full and creamy yet fresh, with fine texture and a long, savoury finish.

About this wine

Alois Lageder, the family winery of Margreid in Alto Adige, is one of Italy's pioneers of biodynamic viticulture and a reference for high-altitude Alpine whites.

Löwengang is the estate's historic Chardonnay, named after the medieval Ansitz Löwengang manor house in Margreid that is home to the winery. Fermented and aged in oak, it was one of the first Italian Chardonnays made in a Burgundian style, combining richness and texture with the freshness and minerality of the mountains. It is a complex, age-worthy white for special occasions.
