Tasting notes

Deep ruby red. Plum jam and blackcurrant on the nose, with vegetal and Mediterranean scrub notes and a mineral hint of graphite. Full, soft and velvety on the palate, with silky tannins and a long, harmonious finish.

About this wine

Magari is the Bolgheri Rosso of Ca' Marcanda, Angelo Gaja's estate on the Tuscan coast at Castagneto Carducci. It blends Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc (50%, 25% and 25% in recent vintages) from vineyards cooled by breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Each variety is fermented separately, according to its ripening time, and the wine then ages about 18 months in French oak barriques. It is a full, velvety Bolgheri red for meat dishes. This listing is the 2019 vintage.
