Tasting notes

Deep garnet red. The nose shows ripe cherry, plum and dark berries with spice, leather and earthy terroir notes. The palate is powerful yet refined, highly structured, with dense tannins and a long finish. Unfiltered: decanting recommended.

About this wine

Siro Pacenti bought the Pelagrilli estate north of Montalcino in 1970, and in 1988 his son Giancarlo bottled the family's first Rosso and Brunello. The Riserva PS is their summit: a single-vineyard wine from a 1.5-hectare plot planted by Siro in the early 1970s, made only in exceptional years.

The 100% Sangiovese ages 24 months in 225-litre French barriques and then in bottle, and is released unfiltered. From the 2012 vintage only 800 magnums were filled, making this a rare collector's bottle that will continue to develop for many years.
