Tasting notes

Golden yellow colour. Intense aromas of pear, apricot and peach with fresh butter and toasted oak. The palate is full and multi-layered, with mineral depth, a slightly salty edge and a long, persistent finish.

About this wine

Alois Lageder is a family winery founded in 1823 and now run by the sixth generation at Tor Löwengang in Magrè, Alto Adige. The estate is farmed biodynamically and certified by Demeter.

"Löwengang" Chardonnay takes its name from the family's historic residence and, according to the winery, was the first white wine from Alto Adige to break through on international markets in the 1980s. It comes from the estate's own plots at 230 to 330 metres on sandy, gravelly limestone soils.

Spontaneous fermentation in barriques and large casks, several months on the lees and about a year in bottle give a layered, mineral white of great character.
