Tasting notes

Garnet with orange hints at the rim. A complex nose of dried rose, cherry in spirit, liquorice, tobacco and truffle. Powerful yet refined on the palate, with firm, polished tannins, fresh acidity and a very long, earthy finish typical of Serralunga.

About this wine

Paolo Manzone runs a family estate of about 20 hectares in the Meriame area of Serralunga d'Alba, set between the celebrated crus of Baudana and Lazzarito. The vineyards have belonged to the family for many years, and today their grapes become wines with the unmistakable character of Serralunga.

The Barolo Riserva is the longest-aged wine of the estate, made since the 2008 vintage from Nebbiolo grown on south-west facing calcareous clay at 350 metres. It spends 60 months ageing in total: three years in wood, one to two years in 500-litre ceramic amphorae and then time in bottle.
