Tasting notes

Garnet with orange reflections. Violet, wild strawberry, cherry and dark plum on the nose, with mint and balsamic notes. It opens slowly in the glass; the palate is fine and rounded, the tannin silky rather than firm, the finish long and perfumed.

About this wine

The Brovia family has farmed vineyards at Castiglione Falletto since 1863. Rocche di Castiglione is one of the village's best-known crus and one of the cellar's historic wines.

The grapes ferment in concrete vats and the wine is raised for twenty-four to thirty months in French and Slavonian oak, then bottled without filtration so that the character of the site is not smoothed away.

Rocche is the site that gives perfume rather than muscle: among Barolo crus it is the one most often described as floral, and Brovia's version is built on aroma and fine tannin rather than weight.
