Tasting notes

Bright straw yellow. Apple, almond and hazelnut lead the nose, with a delicate toasted note from the barrique. The palate is full-bodied and firmly built, with balanced acidity holding the weight in place, and a powerful, long finish that returns to nut and orchard fruit.

About this wine

Castelfeder is a family winery founded in 1969 by Alfons Giovanett at Cortina sulla Strada del Vino in South Tyrol, and is run today by the third generation. Burgum Novum has been the estate's reserve line since 1989: wines deliberately given time to settle before they are released.

The Chardonnay comes from selected vineyards in the Bassa Atesina on limestone and gravel soils, picked by hand. It spends eighteen months in barrique, six months in stainless steel and a further twelve months in bottle, a long elevage that builds weight without burying the fruit.
