Tasting notes

Ruby red. Forest fruit and morello cherry lead the nose, with vanilla and sweet spice from the long time in barrique. The palate is elegant and composed, acidity in balance with ripe, fine-grained tannins, and the finish runs long with the cherry fruit returning at the end.

About this wine

Castelfeder is a South Tyrolean family winery founded in 1969 by Alfons Giovanett and run by the third generation. The Pinot Nero Riserva from the Burgum Novum line, made since 1989, is the estate's flagship wine.

It comes from selected vineyards in the Bassa Atesina on mineral clay and limestone soils. The grapes are hand-picked and fermented in stainless steel, after which the wine is given a long elevage: eighteen months in barrique, six months in steel and twelve months in bottle before release, so it arrives already settled.
