Tasting notes

Bright pale straw. The nose shows flint, gooseberry, hazelnut, lemongrass and apple, with subtle oak in the background. The palate is elegant and layered, with fine acidity, a creamy texture and a long, mineral finish.

About this wine

With Kreuzweg, the family winery Castelfeder, founded in 1969 by Alfons Giovanett, presents the new summit of its range in the Family Reserve series. The wine comes from the single Kreuzweg cru in the village of Margreid (Magrè), on limestone and gravel soils, and is made in limited quantities only in the best vintages.

The Chardonnay ferments and then ages for 18 months in barriques, followed by 12 months in steel tanks and a further six months in bottle before release.

The long, patient élevage gives a white of depth and finesse that clearly expresses the strength of its site.
