Tasting notes

Pale straw yellow. The nose is unmistakably Gewürztraminer: lychee, rose petal, tropical fruit and a lift of white flowers. The palate is fresh, elegant and light on its feet, with the aromatics carried by clean acidity rather than weight, and a dry, perfumed close.

About this wine

Castelfeder is a South Tyrolean family winery founded in 1969 by Alfons Giovanett and run today by the third generation. Mon Mes is the estate's young, fresh and deliberately unfussy range, made to be drunk rather than cellared.

This Gewürztraminer comes from selected vineyards in the Bassa Atesina on clay soils. The grapes are hand-picked, gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel, then left five months on the lees. The result keeps the variety's exotic perfume without the weight and sweetness Gewürztraminer so often carries.
