Tasting notes

Garnet with a brick rim. Aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, cocoa and soft spice. The palate is round and velvety, with mature, smooth tannins and a warm, lingering finish.

About this wine

Rupel winery lies in the Rupel Gorge of the Struma River, between the Belasitsa and Sengelska mountains, near the village of Dolno Spanchevo east of Petrich. The gorge forms an air corridor for warm Aegean currents, and grapes and wine have been made here for centuries.

This Merlot from the Gramatik line, vintage 2015, is now fully mature: ripe plum, black cherry, cocoa and soft spice over rounded, velvety tannins.

Serve at 16–18 °C with roast meat, pasta with meat sauce or mature cheeses.
