Tasting notes

Ruby with violet glints. Sour cherry and spice on the nose. The palate is juicy and fresh, with notes of cherry, plum jam and rhubarb and a supple finish. Hints of dried fruit, cocoa and sweet spice from the Amarone pomace add depth to a round, velvety body.

About this wine

Graziano Prà's Morandina Ripasso Superiore comes from the same high vineyards in Mezzane and Tregnago as his Valpolicella of the same name.

The wine is re-fermented on the Amarone pomace with a five-day maceration, the traditional ripasso technique that gives it more body and depth. It then ages for 12 months in Allier oak tonneaux and two months in a large 20-hectolitre cask.

The 2017 combines the freshness of Valpolicella with the richness borrowed from Amarone.

Serve at 16-18 °C.
