Tasting notes

Deep dark red. Aromas of forest berries and cherry with notes of spice and fine oak. The palate is powerful yet elegant, with a pronounced fruity character, fine tannins and a long finish. It opens up nicely with a little air and is best served in a generous glass, where its fruit and structure can fully unfold.

About this wine

The Pfitscher family has been making wine in Montan, South Tyrol, since 1861, and the winery is now run by the seventh generation.

The Pinot Nero Riserva "Matan" comes from the Gleno plot in Montagna at about 550 metres. After fourteen to sixteen days of fermentation with punching down, it ages for twelve to fifteen months in small and large oak barrels, then several months in bottle.

This is the estate's top Pinot Noir, a deep and structured Riserva from a single high-altitude site.
