Tasting notes

Bright yellow with green highlights. The nose shows fig, nettle, elderflower and passion fruit, the herbal and tropical sides of Sauvignon held in balance by the altitude. The palate is elegant and juicy, with firm acidity carrying an aromatic, persistent finish.

About this wine

Castelfeder is a South Tyrolean family winery founded in 1969 by Alfons Giovanett. The name Raif comes from the local dialect expression die Raifen, the high cool places where the grapes grow.

The vineyards sit at around 600 metres in the Bassa Atesina on sandy, gravelly soils, where cool evening winds and a wide day-to-night temperature swing slow ripening and hold the aromatics in place. The fruit is hand-picked and fermented in stainless steel, then left six months on its fine lees.
