Tasting notes

Deep red in colour. The nose offers red fruit, black pepper and the gently herbal notes typical of Cabernet Franc. The palate is elegant and fine, with soft tannins that give length without harshness and fresh acidity that keeps it light on its feet.

About this wine

This Cabernet Franc comes from Château Penin, a family estate in Génissac on the right bank of the Dordogne, run by the Carteyron family for several generations. It is a rare single-varietal expression of a grape usually found in Bordeaux blends.

The wine is made from 100% Cabernet Franc sourced from selected parcels of vines more than 80 years old, whose low yields give concentration and character. It is deliberately not aged in oak, so that the pure fruit and the typical peppery, herbal profile of the variety shine through.

The result is an elegant, fresh red that shows a different, more aromatic side of Bordeaux and is best enjoyed in its youth.
