Tasting notes

Ruby red in colour. The nose is harmonious and rich, with ripe red fruit and light vanilla from the oak. The palate is soft, round and seductive, with velvety tannins, good depth and a long, smooth finish.

About this wine

Grande Sélection is one of the most ambitious reds of Château Penin, a family estate in Génissac on the right bank of the Dordogne, run by the Carteyron family for several generations. It carries the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation, reserved for wines from stricter yields and longer ageing.

Made from 100% Merlot, the grapes are carefully selected, then pressed and extracted gently to preserve the fruit. The wine is aged entirely in fine-grained Allier oak and then rests for nine months in bottle before release.

The result is a rich, seductive Merlot with ripe red fruit framed by subtle vanilla, built to develop for many years in the cellar.
