Tasting notes

Bright straw yellow with pale green lights. The nose is clean and fruit-led: williams pear, crisp apple and a touch of white flowers, with a faint almond note behind. The palate is dry and nicely weighted, the five months on lees giving a soft, rounded middle, and it closes gently on citrus zest and a dry almond edge.

About this wine

Castelfeder is a family winery in Alto Adige, and the Mont Mes range gathers its fresh, everyday bottlings. This Pinot Grigio comes from selected sites in the Bassa Atesina, the warmer southern end of the region, where the vines grow on sandy, gravelly soils that drain freely.

Hand-picked fruit is pressed gently and fermented in stainless steel, then left five months on its lees to build a little texture without losing cut. The modest alcohol and bright acidity make it an easy wine for warm weather, keeping the variety's pear-and-apple character clean and unadorned.
