Tasting notes

Brilliant ruby red. An intense, varietal nose of red cherry, raspberry and a touch of forest floor. The palate is dry and full, with a velvety texture and balanced tannins. Serve slightly below room temperature in a large glass, letting it breathe briefly to reveal its full aromatic range.

About this wine

Cantina Valle Isarco (Eisacktaler Kellerei) is a winery based in Klausen, in the Eisack Valley of South Tyrol, one of the northernmost wine areas of Italy.

Its classic Pinot Nero (Blauburgunder) grows on the warm slopes around Atzwang in the southern valley, at 420-750 metres, on weathered porphyry with limestone deposits left by ancient Dolomite glaciers. It ferments in steel, goes through malolactic fermentation and ages on the fine lees in a large wooden cask. It is an elegant, food-friendly mountain Pinot Noir.
