Tasting notes

Intense purple. Aromas of violet, wild berries, fresh cherry and plum. The palate is harmonious and juicy, with generous tannins and a fresh, fruity finish. It opens up nicely with a little air and is best served in a generous glass, where its fruit and structure can fully unfold.

About this wine

Pfitscher is a family winery in Montan, South Tyrol, making wine since 1861 and seeking a clean, precise style from well-sited vineyards.

The Lagrein "Rivus" comes from vineyards near Egna and Ora at about 300 metres. It ferments in concrete vats with regular stirring of the cap, then matures for twelve months in oak casks and concrete.

The result is a juicy, fruit-driven Lagrein that captures the dark, spicy character of this native South Tyrolean grape. The family winery in Montan is itself a showcase of sustainable, energy-efficient building among the vines.
