Tasting notes

Bright ruby red. The nose is open and fruit-forward: red cherry, raspberry and plum, with a light floral note and a touch of sweet spice. The palate is medium-bodied and juicy, the tannins soft and the acidity lively, finishing clean with a gentle almond bitterness typical of Dolcetto.

About this wine

Paolo Manzone and his wife Luisella run their family winery in the Meriame cru at Serralunga d'Alba, in a small amphitheatre between Baudana and Lazzarito. The vineyards are worked by hand and without chemical treatments, and the estate is part of The Green Experience sustainability programme.

Luvi is their everyday red: a blend of the three classic Langhe black grapes, Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo, grown on limestone-clay soils. Maceration in stainless steel runs about a week, and the wine then spends twelve months split between steel and French oak. The aim is freshness and drinkability rather than structure.
