Tasting notes

Deep purple-red. The nose shows violet, dark berries and noble spice from the oak. The palate is full and dense, with abundant fine tannins and a velvety, lingering finish. It opens up nicely with a little air and is best served in a generous glass, where its fruit and structure can fully unfold.

About this wine

The Pfitscher family has grown vines in South Tyrol for seven generations, and their modern winery in Montan is built right among the vineyards.

The Lagrein Riserva "Griesfeld" takes its name from a single plot in Egna at around 300 metres. It ferments for about fourteen days with regular punching down of the cap, then ages for fifteen months in small oak barrels.

This is a dense, velvety expression of South Tyrol's native red grape, built to age and to accompany rich dishes.
